Should I use WordPress, Ghost or write own blog engine
I really wanted to make it easy to migrate blog posts to a different engine without too much hassle. Markdown / AsciiDoc seemed to be a perfect format to store blog posts.
After brief research I realized that technology has come full circle and static HTML blogs are a thing now. I mean of course HTML generated from Markdown, not writing all HTML files by hand :)
I decided to give Jekyll a try and (since it’s only HTML) to host it on GitHub pages.
HTTPS on GitHub pages
GitHub pages supports SSL certificate for everything under *github.io, but I wanted to use my own domain.
Fortunatelly Cloudflare allows us to add Let’s Encrypt certificate to any domain. Here’s nice tutorial: https://blog.cloudflare.com/secure-and-fast-github-pages-with-cloudflare/
